Barriers of Love

NEVER SAY NEVER is a story that shows you the true love of two people who are willing to go against the odds to be happy with their relationship. Tyler Banks is a prestigious lawyer who has recently started at a law firm where he meets Desiree Diamond a paralegal with a sharp mind and a firm belief in her future.  When Tyler and Desiree are teamed up to work on a sexual harassment case, the sparks fly and the masks come off.

Desiree grew up in a blue-collared, middle class African-American family where her parents worked hard to provide for the family, but when you meet the siblings, you can tell the family is unique, with strong beliefs.  When Desiree finds herself in a loveless relationship with her boyfriend of six years, she realizes that the relationship is going nowhere and she walks away.

Tyler Banks comes from a family of strong religious beliefs, but when his father begins to use his religion to get Tyler to bend his way, the strength of the father-son relationship is put to the test.  When the drama begins in Tyler & Diamond’s lives they find they have to deal with the opinions of everyone else, even though the love they share is strong.

NEVER SAY NEVER is a light read with a touch of realism.  Michele Cameron writes a story about a unique relationship in which only true love could prevail, no matter the color of the skin. This book is definitely a great pick for those who are romance lovers or simply want a light read.

Desiree Diamond, is one of the top paralegals at her law firm has a five year plan to save enough money to go back to school to pursue her dream of becoming a lawyer. Desiree has just broken up with her fiancée because, after six years of dating, he still refuses to commit. Tyler Banks is a hotshot attorney that Desiree’s firm recently hired; he’s divorced but still wears his wedding band to discourage women he feels are looking for a superficial relationship.  Desiree is informed she will be working exclusively with Tyler on a sexual harassment case.  But while doing so, she realizes that Tyler has more than a passing interest in her.  Desiree begins to realize that he’s everything she has ever wanted in a man; the only problem is he’s white.

NEVER SAY NEVER delves into interracial relationships and why some people think they are taboo.  Desiree runs the risk of losing a good man because she cares too much about what society thinks instead of how she feels.  Tyler doesn’t care about race, but he still has to repair his relationship with his father, and deal with his disapproving ex-wife.  I like the fact that he is patient with Desiree and goes out of his way to help her sort out her feelings and deal with her fears.

NEVER SAY NEVER is a well written love story.  Ms. Cameron took her time leading you through the characters struggle without dragging the story along.  She let’s women know that the way a real man treats you has less to do with the color of his skin and more to do with the content of his character.  I like the way Ms. Cameron, deals with the race issue, and the differences between the way African American men and women view the issue.  This book is a quick and enjoyable read.
